This virtual learning experience has been developed as part of an photography exhibition at UTS Gallery Sydney of the work of artist Hayley Millar Baker.

This Learning experience follows an empathy-driven approach to learning, encouraging participants to reflect on their own experiences, memories and understandings in relation to the themes and stories represented in the work of artist Hayley Millar Baker (Gunditjmara, AU). Additionally, this resource is grounded in reciprocity – information is not given without the learner’s active participation, commitment and involvement.

This learning experience was developed by artist Hayley Millar Baker and Curator and Educator Emily McDaniel and delivered by UTS Gallery and Art Collection is relevant to learners across academic and professional disciplines, such as architecture, design, health, communication and education. Although it has not been designed in response to the senior secondary Australian Curriculum, it can be used in the classroom with relevance to English, humanities, science, technologies and the arts. It also responds to the cross-curricular priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and sustainability.

UTS acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Boorooberongal people of the Dharug Nation, the Bidiagal people and the Gamaygal people upon whose ancestral lands our university stands. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders both past and present, acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of knowledge for these lands.

The UNESCO Chair and UTS supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its implementation in full.
