Professor Ana Filipa Vrdoljak as UNESCO Chairholder was invited to contribute an intervention to the G20 Cultural Working Group Thematic Webinar on Safeguarding and Restitution of Cultural Heritage to Protection Human Rights organized as part of South Africa’s presidency of the G20 in 2025, held on 2 April 2025. This was an important opportunity to introduce the work of the UNESCO Chair and the UNESCO-UNITWIN Network and its alignment with the objectives being pursued by the G20 in the lead up to Mondiacult 2025 including support of a standalone SDG for culture and the importance of combatting illicit trafficking especially in times of emergencies.
UTS acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Boorooberongal people of the Dharug Nation, the Bidiagal people and the Gamaygal people upon whose ancestral lands our university stands. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders both past and present, acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of knowledge for these lands.
