Professor Sambo Dorough was elected Arctic region member (2023-2026) of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP). She recently completed her term as the International Chairperson of the Inuit Circumpolar Council.

Professor Sambo Dorough has contributed to several current and ongoing projects of the UNESCO Chair including the Oxford Handbook on International Cultural Heritage Law (2020) and the Indigenous peoples and cultural heritage international research and capacity-building initiative.

We congratulate Professor Sambo Dorough on her appointment and acknowledge and thank her decades’ long contribution and commitment to the rights of Indigenous peoples around the world.

UTS acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Boorooberongal people of the Dharug Nation, the Bidiagal people and the Gamaygal people upon whose ancestral lands our university stands. We would also like to pay respect to the Elders both past and present, acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of knowledge for these lands.
