On 8 February 2024 the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in collaboration with UNESCO-UNITWIN Network on Culture in Emergencies, hosted a webinar that highlighted the critical role of culture and education in emergency situations, such as armed conflicts and disasters. The webinar was an official side event of the UNESCO World Conference on Culture and Arts Education (2024WCCAE) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 13-15 February 2024.
The webinar was chaired by Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki from the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) and featured a panel of experts from various fields, including Ms. Krista Pikkat (Director, Culture and Emergencies Entity, Culture Sector, UNESCO), Sh. Ebrahim Alkhalifa (Deputy Director, Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage), Dr. Alicja Jagielska-Burduk (UNESCO Chair in Cultural Property Law (Opole)), Dr. Jorge Sanchez Cordero (Director, Mexican Center for Uniform Law), Professor Mathias Sahinkuye (African Institute for International Law), and Professor Ana Filipa Vrdoljak (UNESCO Chair in International Law and Cultural Heritage (UTS)).
