Professor Ana Filipa Vrdoljak was pleased to present a talk on the role of world heritage inscription of the island of Balliceaux as part of the reparations claim of the Garifuna arising from the impact of British colonialism and forced removal. The presentation was part of the 11th International Garifuna Conference on ‘Promoting Reparatory Justice: Towards the Development and Implementation of the 2030 Indigenous Peoples’ Development Plan’ held in St Vincent and Grenadines organized by The Garifuna Heritage Foundation (TGHF) and the University of the West Indies Global Campus from 11-13 March 2024.
The UNESCO Chair also participate in TGHF Garifuna Working Group on Reparations.
